About This Blog

This blog is meant to be used as a digital resource hub for the teachers of Vergennes Union High School.  We also welcome viewers from beyond our local learning community.  Our goal is to create a one-stop shop to make it easier for teachers to find technology resources that will support and enhance teaching and learning.

We hope to cover all types of digital resources (websites, apps, extensions, how to videos, etc). Because we are a Google school using Chromebooks as our primary device, we are targeting resources that work in Chrome and on Chromebooks.

How do I find what I'm looking for?

  • Scroll through the homepage to see recent additions of our resource hub.  Click the "older posts" link at the bottom of our homepage to see more
  • Click on the tags listed on the right-hand side bar to filter our resources
  • Keyword search using the Blogger search box in the top left-hand corner of the window
  • Browse our posts by month through our Blog Archive on the right-hand sidebar underneath the tags.

What's the difference between an app, an extension, & and add-on?

How do I find them once I've installed them?

Chrome App: an app has its own user interface.  It's like installing software, but it's online.  You can open an app by opening your apps window and clicking on the app, or by visiting the app website.

Finding your Apps Window:

Chrome Extension:
affects something global on your chrome browser, something that you may wish to use while you are using Chrome.  Installing an extension enhances or extends the functionality of the Chrome browser.  Once you install it you access it by clicking on the mini icon that should appear in the top right corner of your browser window beside your menu button.

App Add-On:  brings more functionality to the original app when installed.  It is accessed from within the original app and how it is accessed depends on the app and the add-on.

About Us:

S. Specht: I joined the VUHS staff as the middle and high school librarian in 2014. I have always had a knack for technology and love teaching others how to use it to make their lives easier. I know how to use a broad range of products and am constantly finding and testing out new ones.

M. Brooks: I joined the VUHS staff as our Technology Integration Specialist in the fall of 2014.  I love helping teachers solve a problem or meet a need in their classroom.  Sometimes, technology can do both!  Having the right app when you need it can make a difference and sometimes...  it can totally be a game-changer!
